The work consists of the reform of the main railway station in the city of Elche (Alicante).
All the actions taken to undertake the work have been coordinated to maintain 100% operational station keeping the pass of passengers and ticket sales at all times despite the integral reform of all rooms. To do this, the work has been split into several phases of action and has had to work even 24 continuous hours or night hours, allowing the traveller can always have a part of building "without works" and not affect train traffic or people. To enable these works it had to be coordinated with ADIF and RENFE stations all of the actions and phases of work, without having produced any condition on the track or in the train pass no matter how complicated the work of some phases directly on the track is. - Adequacy of the access for people with reduced mobility (PRM) - The installation of three elevators and two escalators. - Construction of 2 new exits for the disposal of platforms with direct access to the street. - Adaptation to the current regulations of Civil Protection. - Optimizing the functionality and space distribution, adapting the image of the station to the quality standards of ADIF. - Adequacy and provision of facilities for proper operation. - Intelligent smoke extraction platforms. - Local extinction risk and evacuation areas with high pressure water mist. - Pumping systems for evacuation of storm water. - Repair and renewal of major water leaks in the tunnel and others.
Based on the above we designed a makeover with a very limited action in terms of structural changes by reforming the existing building without altering its structure, and planning to build three new lifts, and their connections to solve the accessibility to the two platforms of the station. In addition two new stairs of evacuation are planned for each platform. The lobby is rearranged in order to optimize the performance of each of the spaces that comprise it, providing it with greater passenger capacity and accessibility, expanding to accommodate the new lift access to platforms. It is designed for new provision of lockers, toilets and other premises of the hall. The access galleries are packed platforms, integrating with the elevators that are installed to solve the accessibility of the platforms. Finally the platforms and the vaults of the same reform also is adding two new escape stairs located on the basis of maximum evacuation routes, permitted, to the Regulations of the Special Plan of Orchard Tower Vail and with the limitation of operational length of the platforms at 240m that has defined ADIF. |
