The Rover Alcisa Group tenders a railway line of 417 kilometers in Turkey

The Rover Alcisa Group has tendered a railway work in Turkey of 417 kilometers in length by an amount of 260 million euros. The work, is destined to the transport of freight and passengers, covers the geographical axis between the central region, which encompasses the provinces of Central Anatolia and the Black Sea. This infrastructure consists on the rehabilitation of track and implementation of a centralized traffic control in the 417 km of line.

 

The dimension of this work lies in acting at 33 railway stations in the regions of Central Anatolia, which is the industrial heart of Asiatic Turkey of highest flow of trade in the area due to the presence in these regions of a powerful steel industry which epicenter lies in the city of Karabük.

 

Rover Alcisa brings its expertise in the railway field through two of its companies, Rover Alcisa Construction and Iberovías.

 

This railway line, is a non-electrified of single track and cater to both passenger and freight transport. Moreover, as regards to the transport of goods, it has a very important significance for the country, since the axis between Ankara and the black Sea comprises a powerful industrial zone whose shipping trade needs of the Black Sea.

 

The Rover Alcisa Group's expertise in the rail sector reinforces the bid submitted by a consortium led by Rover Alcisa Group, and which includes a Turkish construction company and a multinational railway signaling.

 

From Ankara to the Black Sea

The work is located between Irmak station located in central Turkey, near Ankara and Zonguldak station in the Black Sea. The aim of this work is to boost passenger traffic in the area to improve transit times and freight traffic by giving direct access to these to the Black Sea, improving the competitiveness of industries in the Turkish zone.

 

This contract consists of the rehabilitation of the existing 417 km of the railway line keeping the current path and optimizing the alignments of the same trade to improve the speed of the journey and including the installation of a new railway signaling and safety which will increase capacity line in optimum conditions of service.

 

The work under the contract includes the following elements:

 

Rehabilitation of permanent installation including sub-structure (with an appropriate layer payload / drainage), the replacement of the superstructure (ballast, rail and sleepers) and treatment infrastructure in general.

 

Optimization of the layout including reopening of some stations that are temporarily closed, dismantling existing track, switches and crossings and sidewalks, replacing them with new ones.



Establishment of ETCS (European Train Control System) Level One (1) on the railway line with the installation of electronic signaling system for telecommunications services and the adaptation of existing signaling system of Irmak station. Also a new dispatch center is being installed in Karabük.
