This project, promoted by the Hydrographic Confederation of the RiverJúcar has a budget of around 9 million EUR and is approximately 4.5 kilometers from the mouth of the river Júcar in the municipality of Cullera, developing a dual function. On the one hand, enables the risks to the weir of Cullera through various outlets that affect Sueca Irrigation Communities and Cullera, and secondly, it prevents salt intrusion in the river Júcar, helping to maintain the separation of sweet-salty water.

The two main irrigation ditches come from the weir of Cullera. The Weir of la Marquesa is the last of the existing in the Júcar River before emptying into the sea. This weir regulates the waters of the river itself, creating a mini reservoir between the Weir of la Marquesa and the weir of Cullera, where it also flows water from the ditch of four villages, which rises in the weir of Sueca.
