The Rover Alcisa Group concludes the high-speed train service works in the section Almansa-La Encina

The Rover Alcisa Group, through two of its companies, Rover Alcisa Constructions and Construred, has completed the high-speed train service works in the stretch Almansa – La Encina. This section made by the Rover Alcisa Group joint venture formed by two of its companies is located within the town of Almansa and includes the subsection III of the new high-speed rail access to Levante, Madrid, Castilla La Mancha, Valencia and the Region of Murcia.

Its total length is 5,6 km. The main structure of the work is to build a pergola on rail FF.CC on line Albacete – La Encina. By building this pergola on the conventional train line Albacete – La Encina it will allow the connection of the high-speed train between Castilla La Mancha and the south of Valencia.

Through the construction of this complex structure of 102 isostatic beams and 4051m2 of board, resolving a junction of three high-speed ways and two standard gauge in line Albacete-Alicante and one for the Albacete – Valencia traffic that will cross the top on the two current paths of Iberian gauge corresponding to the conventional rail that links Albacete with La Encina.

On 14 December, this structure was completed. Satisfactory static and dynamic loading tests were passed. It is worth mentioning that to achieve the objective of meeting the deadline, it was necessary to adjust work schedules to railway traffic of current line Albacete – Valencia with the fundamental requirement that this traffic does not register any alteration. That is why some works have been carried out at night.

Other special mention in the construction of this structure has been the work of diversion of optic fibber lines, signals and communications around. The work of adapting the catenaries on the stretch of influence of the Pergola and as major work the foundation of the structure through the implementation of 264 units of pile of Ø1200 mm embedded in rock.
In addition to the pergola, another of the peculiarities of this work has been the existence of a layer of collapsible slit, undetected in the pipeline in the area under which supports one of the embankments of greater height of the work. During the conducted geotechnical work it was detected in the ground where the embankment 2 of the work should support (between mile markers 401+402  and 450 +470 of a length of 980 m and a maximum height of 16m) showed a behaviour known as “collapsible” limos.

It’s for this reason that we resorted to the use of dynamic compaction, which ensures the homogeneity of the mechanical parameters of the entire thickness treated with the consequent reduction of the deferred and differential seats, annulment of the risk of collapse by ensuring a lower rate of collapse of 2% and seats in a lower exploitation of 2cm.

Finally, note that in all the surroundings of the work it has been carried out a new network and of service of the work itself, for this it has been necessary to implement “2” overpasses about 60m length to allow permeability with existing infrastructure.

Currently they were finishing work on plantations and environmental integration of the work, tasks for which both ADIF, as the Company require great sensitivity.
