Rover Alcisa has successfully completed the construction of the new bridge in Can Rabella in San Cugat del Vallés that has connected the neighbourhoods of Mira-Sol and Can Matas, through a new overpass for pedestrians and vehicles over the FGC via S1, giving the area a seamless infrastructure with the territory. The work has involved the connection of the Avenida de Montserrat Roig and Turó de Can Matas, allowing the movement of vehicles between the area of Mirasol and Can Matas.

The work has involved the construction of two bridges of 20 m span each, resting on abutments reinforced with the implementation of micro piles to avoid any condition of the new structure to the retaining walls of the railway line. During the months of July and August work has been carried out on the catenaries of the two routes in order to lower its elevation to a level that allows the placement of bridge beams safely, keeping throughout all the work the train traffic without restriction.
 

In late October, there was the placement of 11 large pre-cast beams that formed the two new bridges. They were placed at night, avoiding cuts on train traffic. To give the bridge a transparency we opted for the installation of metal containment allowing the visualization con the old bridge.

The work also included the implementation of the new roundabout of Can Mates to adapt to the new flush of bridges and installations of 3 new gardens. The existing roundabout in Mira-Sol was redefined, leaving intact the roundabout throughout the work.




The existing masonry bridge was rehabilitated and adapted for use as a pedestrian walkway, installing a new decorative pavement and rails with integrated lighting and repairing the entire structure. The lighting of the entire area was also redesigned, ensuring high visibility for both pedestrians and the driver of the vehicle.
